WMCB-LP Hosts First DJ Meet-up

Show producers gathered to discuss fundraising and station promotion

Mik's Mix, Listen to Griffin, Logan's Run, Psychedlerhythmia, Voyager 3, Enviroshow, Jet Lag Radio, and Vernon Greenfield

WMCB-LP committee chair Sean Griffin hosted the meeting in the GCTV lobby on Thursday, August 28th, where nine radio show producers showed up to discuss the future of the station.

Shows represented in attendance were Mik's Mix, Listen to Griffin, Logan's Run, Psychedelarrhythmia, Voyager 3, Enviroshow, Jet Lag Radio, and Vernon Greenfield. Station staffer Sidnie was there as well.

Topics included the annual registration of DJ membership; station fundraising; events to promote the station and inject even more fun; a demo of the awesome Rodecaster device in the DJ booth; recording new station IDs and show promos; and the tastiness of the Hot Hawaiian pizza that was offered. Yum!

Some of the ideas brought up were hosting a live DJ table outside of Greenfield Records during Greenfield Vintage Days; another live broadcast from the Greenfield Common; heavily cross-promoting each others' shows on-air; show and station underwriting, and a Membership Drive in October.

The goals of these ideas were to help raise money to offset GCTV's costs to keep the radio station on the air, and to promote it as a platform for Greenfield and other Franklin County residents to host their own local, live radio shows. There are weekly one-hour and two-hour time slots available during weekday work hours. Shows can also be recorded at home and handed in for air play. All shows are re-aired later in the week and are archived on the station's website, WMCB.net.

Residents of Greenfield and Franklin County are invited to review the forms required to broadcast on WMCB and consider a show of their own, and local businesses are encouraged to underwrite a show, or the station as a whole at the corporate level.
