WMCB-LP Plans DJ Group Meeting

First gathering of local radio show producers to discuss new directions

The WMCB steering committee will be holding a producers meeting and mixer on Thursday, August 28 at 6:00 PM at the GCTV studios, 393 Main St, Greenfield, MA. Free pizza and light refreshments will be served.

The committee seeks to reestablish its original guiding principles and responsibilities towards Greenfield's only community radio station. All producers who attend will get a printed copy of the revised WMCB-LP Handbook, which includes all the station policies and forms, as well as explaining the fundraising requirements for all producers.

Though it hasn't been enforced for years, all DJs on WMCB-LP are required to re-register as a member producer every year, pay a small annual fee, volunteer two hours a month of their time (the bi-monthly producers mixer counts as volunteer time) as well as fundraise a minimum of $200/yr for the station, every year. This long-ignored policy is being enforced starting July 1, 2025.

GCTV owns the radio station's FCC license, and pays over $6000 every year to keep the station going. It's time for the DJs to help with that.

As an enticement to stepping up and following through with these new requirements, all DJs who are current will get a free page on the brand new WMCB.net website, complete with photo, short blurb, and an archive of shows, playable right on the website. Additional content options are available for the truly involved.

So fill out the paperwork and bring a check, cash, money order, or PayPal account to the DJ mixer on Thursday, August 28 at 6:00 PM and hear about the new station workflows and meet the other DJs... and have a free slice of pizza on us.
