Music of the People is a 2-hour show of music for social change, hosted by Dianne Crowe. It airs live every Wednesday on WMCB-LP 107.9 FM in and around Greenfield from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. It is rebroadcast on Thursdays from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and on Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. The station streams on the web at wmcb.net.
Music of the People is also rebroadcast on Valley Free Radio at 103.3 FM from Northampton, MA on Fridays from 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. and on valleyfreeradio.org.
Tune in to hear political folk music by independent singer/songwriters, generally not aired on commercial radio stations. Hear songs by Sara Thomsen, Emma’s Revolution, David Rovics, Magpie, Kim & Reggie Harris, Anne Feeney, John McCutcheon, Si Kahn, Charlie King, Colleen Kattau, Joe Jencks, Bev Grant, and many more.
The show is done in topical sets which often refer to a current political or social issue or the anniversary of a significant historical event. Diane plays songs about war and peace, social and economic justice, racism, classism, immigration, labor struggles, and civil rights.
